In my home of New Zealand, the concept of “koha” is widely understood and used. In its most simple form, koha refers to a gift but, at its heart, it is an expression of gratitude and support made through giving what you are able.
With this in mind, I wanted to share about the revamp of IACP’s Speakers Bureau which was undertaken with a focus on increased accessibility. Through the Bureau, your group can hear from a knowledgeable speaker regardless of your location in the world, the size of your group and its financial means. Your group is simply invited to express gratitude for the presentation by contributing to IACP an amount of its choosing.
As well as our usual education offerings, in recent months we have organized opportunities for connection, such as the Collaborative Club and Conversation Time gatherings for different professional groups. A team is curating a kit of resources for professionals who are new to Collaborative Practice so they have a head start in developing their Collaborative work. Recently, the Board approved a new technology platform that will support our move into the future as the global home and place of connection for Collaborative Professionals. These are just a sprinkling of the initiatives our Board, staff and volunteers have been rolling their sleeves up for and which are not possible without your support.
I want to deeply thank those in our community who have stood by IACP through what have been challenging times. The Board is excited for our future. Particularly, thank you to those who have demonstrated their support by committing time as a volunteer or by generously donating during our “Month of Giving” in October. Your gifts enable us to be more than just a dues paying association; they enable us to be a transformative presence in dispute resolution for families globally.
It is never too late to extend a koha to IACP by giving what you are able.
