I write this with one of my dogs sleeping under my desk at my feet. After spending the early morning getting into all sorts of mischief at home with her co-conspirator, her brother, followed by busily tearing around my office (and those of my colleagues) doing her important job of being “Chambers Suppawt”, she has decided a rest is in order. Many of us may feel a similar need for a period of rest and restoration as 2024 draws to a close!
It has been an optimistic year for IACP. We have stabilized after sharing in the challenges many organizations experienced in recent years which has enabled us to positively look to our future as the home for Collaborative Professionals. With:
- K. Malaika Walton joining us as our Executive Director;
- the recent decision by the Board to implement an exciting new technology and website platform;
- a focus on having our ‘house in order’ in terms of governance and operational processes; and
- the exploratory work of our Forum Building Initiative
I am grateful to the individuals and groups who have unwaveringly stood by IACP this year. Through donating, volunteering, attending an event or retaining your membership, you have been our wonderful, steadfast friends. Your support has enabled us to continue to strive to make the world a better place by beneficially transforming the conflict landscape for families.
You can be more actively involved in our mission and decision making about IACP’s future by joining the Board of Directors. A call will soon be made for Expressions of Interest for Board Service. I encourage you to take the next step in your leadership pathway by answering that call! For me, Board service has been a means to give back to an organization that has helped transform how I work. Having said that, IACP Board service has given back to me more than I could ever give to it. It is a truly remarkable and fulfilling experience.
Those of us “down under” are about to embark on our summer holidays which we have a particular collective talent for stretching out for as long as possible. I look forward to returning later in January and seeing you at the upcoming Conversation Times and Webinar.
As many of us around the world enter a season of different festivities, I wish you all lightness of heart and contentment and time for rest!
