Message From The ED November 2019 As this issue of the Collaborative Connection rolls out, we are heading into the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving. For many of us, this is a chance for reflection and gratitude, and it has me thinking about the many things that make me thankful as a part of the IACP community: For the opportunity to be part of a growing international community of peacebuilders, working together in an intentional way to make life better for families; For IACP board members and volunteers who set aside their busy schedules to help make our practice better and our community stronger; For a staff team that works hard but keeps their sense of humor and balance; For the ties and friendships I’ve developed with members from around the globe – Brazil to Indiana to Seattle to Hong Kong to Italy and on and on; For teachers and trainers who freely share their time, wisdom, and skill; For Practice Group leaders who diligently do all the many thankless tasks that make this work possible; For curious questions and compassionate answers; For the brave pioneers who founded this field and labored for years to make the vision a reality; For new practitioners who bring their energy, passion, and fresh perspective; For practitioners willing to do the hard work of working in teams respectfully; For all the parents who, after a divorce, were still able to dance at their children’s weddings; And most of all, for all the children over the years and around the world who have had a more peaceful, stable, and loving childhood because their parents found the resources of this community. Wherever you live and whatever your holidays, I hope you find some time as the year closes to reflect on what makes you grateful for this community, and then to recommit to making it even bigger. With thanks and appreciation,
Anne Tamar-Mattis
