The Role of the Neutral Child and Family Specialist: Blending Family Voices to Plan for the Future

Registration is closed for this event

Course Objectives:

This seminar is an opportunity to learn about the multiple facets of the Neutral Child and Family Specialist role, one that offers the privilege of being able to work with and understand the perspectives of all family members during a Collaborative process.

The first half day will focus on the voice of the child and will describe in detail a time-tested process for obtaining a child’s perspective in a way that is respectful, safe, and does not put the child in the middle. The second half day will shift the focus to working with parents from the platform of the best interests of their children. We will discuss the crafting of a We Statement, the creation of a developmentally responsive Parenting Plan, and the option to generate a voluntary, confidential safety plan to deal with identified concerns that could compromise safety during parenting time, e.g., substance abuse.
