Profession(s)
Lawyer, MediatorEvery family, and every case, is unique. The way the case is handled will have a significant impact on the parties, as well as their children, friends and extended families for years to come.
I have successfully represented clients at the trial level, in the Court of Appeals and even before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. However, I understand that going to court for a solution inevitably increases the stress, pain and conflict between the parties, and that a court-imposed result may employ legal principles and reasoning that seem arbitrary or unfair to the parties. The best results are the ones the parties forge based on their individual circumstances, needs and values. I help clients establish reasonable goals based on their situation, and then develop plans to achieve those goals. When an agreement is not possible, my approach to litigation focuses on courtesy, integrity and civility, because the final outcome in a family law case is not the judge's decision, but the way the parties conduct their lives after the case is over.
