Profession(s)
LawyerJim is a Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer. Jim has extensive training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution strategies and applies those skills when helping clients resolve matters outside of Court. For his family law clients, Jim’s experience has taught that with the assistance of the right counsel and other professionals through the Collaborative Family Law process, most matters can be resolved with better outcomes and greater client satisfaction than through the traditional Court route. Jim also offers mediation services to separating couples by acting not as their lawyer, but as a neutral facilitator to help the parties reach a mutually agreeable resolution. The parties who attend mediation are encouraged to obtain their own independent legal advice before, during, or after the mediation to confirm their agreement.
Jim’s common-sense approach to advocacy and resolving disputes has earned him the respect of colleagues and opponents and has produced favourable results for his clients.
In addition to private practice, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and their three young sons enjoying the outdoors, travelling, and having new adventures.
Jim also speaks French and Tagalog, which he learned while volunteering in the Philippines from 2002 to 2004.
