Katrina Viegas

Hi, I'm Katrina, a collaborative attorney and restorative family mediator officed in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.

I was drawn to collaborative practice (and restorative family mediation) based on my deeply held belief that every family deserves a process that is responsive to their unique needs and interests, that is respectful, and that assures everyone shares mutual responsibility over their outcome.

While I have only been an IACP (and Collaborative Law Institute of Minnesota, USA) member for around 18 months, and I am only on my second collaborative case, I finally feel like I have found “my people” in this profession we call “family law.” As a family law attorney who has practiced in Duluth, Minnesota for 12 years, I had never heard of collaborative law or collaborative practice until nearly two years ago. Once I did, I jumped at the chance to go through the New Collaborative Experience in May 2023. During training and in the months after that, I could not help but reflect on my past family law cases and wonder how much better those families (and especially their children) would be doing right now, had they had the opportunity to choose the collaborative process. Therefore, it is with pleasure that I now offer these services to my clients!
